“For some families of children
with cancer, parents have to stop

               working while the child undergoes
               treatment. The increased costs
               associated with a cancer diagnosis,
               such as travel, parking, childcare
and medical supplies, add to the
               financial burden.”

            MONEY MATTERS

                 ADOPT THIS PROGRAM: $140,000

For economically vulnerable families, a cancer diagnosis may be devastating.
Of the five hundred Canadians diagnosed with cancer every day, 80% continue to
experience significant physical, emotional and financial challenges for years after
diagnosis. COVID-19 has compounded these issues for low-income families who are
forced to make difficult decisions around healthcare, nutrition, childcare, and other
critical areas with their limited resources.

Money Matters helps people who are living with cancer access the financial
support and the care that they need in an emotionally supportive environment.
This program provides specialized financial counselling, help finding income
replacement programs, access to legal experts, assistance with wills and estate
planning, and emotional support for families in financial need.
